Organisational Development (OD)

Expert Guidance

You may be wondering why I refer to the McKinsey 7S model here.  The answer is simply that this is one very useful tool among the many that I have in my toolbox when embarking on an organisation change project.

In large organisations particularly, I have found the McKinsey 7S model useful in identifying all the connections between hard and soft elements that need to be taken into account.

For example, top management may not see themselves as necessarily being directly involved in changes to processes involving one or more departments.  They may not realise the impact their management style has on the way people work.

The 7S model helps them to understand the essential interconnections and how weaknesses in one particular element (in this case a soft element) can affect the performance of the organisation as a whole.  It identifies appropriate actions necessary to align all soft and hard elements with the strategic objectives of the organisation.

Depending upon the project scope, size of organisation and other factors, the 7S model may or may not be a tool selected for the job. Others, such as BPR, TQM, Force Field Analysis or simply mapping the processes in a particular department may be appropriate.  Often, a combination is required in much the same way as a worker may use a hammer for one task and a screwdriver for another.

My clients are my number one priority.  My track record in delivering interventions and staying with the client until the results are clear prove just how committed I am to their success. Book an introductory meeting today to learn more about how I can make your business thrive.

HR Functions

The path to success is to care...

Regardless of how long they spend with an organisation all that the good consultant can do is to show the way.  In the end, it's up to the managers, HR staff and other employees in the organisation to implement whatever policies, processes, systems, etc. are introduced.

Many years of experience and learning in a wide variety of organisations, both public sector and private, myself and colleagues have become expert in all aspects of what are commonly known as HR functions, including Learning & Development.

My services are customised to meet the specific needs of each client. I work collaboratively throughout the entire process and guarantee measurable results. Contact me to find out how I can help today.

People Management

Does your culture need to change?

How people are managed at work needs to change! Whatever the mix of home and office working, management needs to care more for their employees.

Research by the CIPD shows high incidences of stress and anxiety resulting in absenteeism; a third of people say their mental health has become worse during the pandemic (Mind).  Managers must get to know their employees better, learn to identify potential areas of concern at the individual level and how to respond appropriately; a vital step for achieving strategic objectives.

I pride myself in being able to work with at all levels in an organisation.  This is why I like to keep my independence as a freelance consultant and distance from the internal politics of the day.  My approach with senior management is to get to know individuals well and work at where they are coming from. Using my counselling skills, I then help individuals to identify for themselves better ways of achieving results.
